Whole-Home Filtration in Richardson, Fitted With a Clean Finish

This system treats your water once, at the main supply line, so every faucet, shower and the washing machine draw from the same cleaner water. We match the equipment to your water and pipes, cover the floors along our path and leave the work area swept and tidy.

One System for Every Tap in Your Home

Whole-home filtration, sometimes called point-of-entry treatment, places a filter tank on your main water line before it branches out to the rest of the house. Most of what homeowners notice first is taste and smell. City water is disinfected on its way to you, and that treatment can leave a pool-like note in a glass of water or a sharper smell in a hot shower. A well-chosen carbon bed takes most of that out.

It is the right call when you want better water everywhere, not just at one faucet. If drinking water is your main concern, an under-sink reverse osmosis unit may be the better first step, and many homes pair the two. We will tell you which fits after we look at your water and your plumbing.

Because the work happens inside your home, often in the garage or near the water heater, we treat the job site with the same care as the equipment. Drop cloths go down before tools come out, and the area is swept and wiped before we leave.

What the Installation Includes

Sizing to your household

We match tank size and flow rate to the number of bathrooms and how your family uses water. An undersized system can drop pressure when two showers run at once; an oversized one simply costs more than it should.

Sediment prefilter

A cartridge ahead of the main tank catches grit and fine particles. That protects the carbon media so it lasts longer and keeps working the way it should.

Carbon media chosen for your water

Standard activated carbon handles chlorine well. Where the city uses chloramine, catalytic carbon is the better material, and we explain the difference before you decide.

Bypass valve and shutoffs

Every system gets a bypass so water keeps flowing during filter changes or service. Clearly placed shutoffs mean you are never hunting for a valve.

Protection and cleanup

We lay floor coverings along our path, wear shoe covers indoors and contain any water from cutting into the line. Packaging, pipe offcuts and old fittings leave with us.

Signs a Whole-Home System Makes Sense

Your tap water smells of chlorine
If a fresh glass smells like a swimming pool, the disinfectant is coming through. Carbon filtration is the most direct answer.
Showers feel harsh on skin and hair
Disinfectant in hot shower water can leave skin dry and hair dull for some people. Treating water at the main line reaches every shower at once.
You filter water in several places already
Pitcher filters, a fridge filter and a showerhead cartridge add up in cost and upkeep. One system at the entry point can replace most of them.
Fine grit settles in fixtures
Sediment in aerators or the bottom of a toilet tank points to particles in the supply. A prefilter catches them before they reach your fixtures.

How Installation Day Runs

  1. 1

    Water test and walkthrough

It starts with a water test and a look at where your main line enters, the pipe material and the space available. You get a written recommendation and a quote by phone before anything is scheduled.

  2. 2

    Protecting the work area

On the day, we confirm the location with you, then cover floors and nearby surfaces. Stored items near the work area are moved only with your say-so and put back afterward.

  3. 3

    Fitting the system

We shut off the water, cut into the main line and install the prefilter, tank and bypass loop. Joints are made with fittings suited to your pipe, whether copper, PEX or CPVC.

  4. 4

    Flushing and checks

The new media is flushed until the water runs clear, and we check every joint for leaks under full pressure. Then we run a tap inside to confirm flow and taste.

  5. 5

    Cleanup and handover

We sweep, wipe down and remove every scrap of packaging. You get a short walkthrough on the bypass valve and when the next filter change is due.

What Shapes the Cost

The price depends on what your water needs and what your plumbing allows. We put every part of the job on the quote, so you can see where the money goes before you decide.

System size and flow
Larger homes with more bathrooms need bigger tanks and higher flow ratings. That is the biggest single driver of equipment cost.
Type of carbon media
Catalytic carbon for chloramine costs more than standard carbon. We only recommend it when your water calls for it.
Location and access
A main line that is easy to reach in the garage is quicker to work on than one tucked behind finished walls or deep in a closet. Longer pipe runs to reach a good spot add time and materials.
Pipe material and existing valves
Older or corroded shutoffs may need replacing so the system can be isolated properly. Mixed pipe materials can call for transition fittings.

Whole-Home Filtration Questions

Will filtering the whole house reduce the pressure at my showers?
Not in everyday use, as long as the system fits your household. When pressure does fall, the usual causes are a tank too small for peak demand or a prefilter cartridge that is overdue for a change. We size for the moments when several fixtures run at once and show you how to swap the prefilter so flow stays steady.
Does whole-home filtration soften my water?
No. Carbon filtration improves taste and smell, but it does not remove the calcium and magnesium that cause hardness. If your water test shows hardness is a concern, we can talk through our water softeners as a separate step.
How often does the media need changing?
The sediment prefilter usually needs a new cartridge every few months, depending on your water. The main carbon bed lasts much longer, often several years, depending on tank size and how much water your home uses. We note both on your paperwork at handover.
Will this take care of my drinking water too?
It will improve the taste and smell of drinking water throughout your home. For a finer level of filtration at the kitchen sink, reverse osmosis is the better tool, and it works well alongside a whole-home system.
How much mess should I expect?
Very little. We cover floors along our route, catch the water released when we cut into the line and flush the new system to a drain or outside. When we leave, the area is swept, wiped down and clear of our packaging.
